I'm not an avid marathoner, but I can't see it hurting anything.
The only problem I see is that these are in the spring. Most people prefer to train in warmer weather and prefer classic marathons. That's the nice thing about TCM. You can train all spring and summer.
And not to be super nitpicky, but I read a little into the Minneapolis Marathon - no finisher tshirt?! You get a finisher's jacket - sorry, but in June, I don't really want a jacket. Also, for an inaugural marathon, $85 is a bit much. Especially in this economy, for those of us who love to run Grandma's, it's going to be one or the other - paying $85 and $95 for two marathons within a month of each other is just not going to happen for most people.
I'll wait until next year to see what bugs they have to work out.
I'm running Minneapolis and Grandma's. Grandma's and Twin Cities are so well organized I think this 'inaugural' marathon will be a bit of a shock by comparison. "What do you mean there's no bus at the end to take you back?!"
